Pedometers count how many steps you take each day. A pedometer works by detecting your movement when you walk, so it must be positioned correctly in order to work properly. Refer to the device’s user manual or the manufacturer’s website for more information.
You can follow the steps below to check the performance of your pedometer.
1. Note how many steps your pedometer is currently showing on its display.
2. Walking normally, take 25 steps and then stop.
3. Check that your pedometer has added at least 25 steps. Note that there could be more than 25 steps counted, as stopping and removing the pedometer to check the screen may have increased the number of steps.
4. If the pedometer didn’t add at least 25 steps, try readjusting its position. Then repeat steps 1‒3 above.
