I had a history, physical exam and EKG as part of a pre-operative clearance. Does that qualify for the cardiovascular screening?
That is a great question! I can understand how that would cause concerns for your activities, I would be happy to provide more information for you!
For a cardiovascular disease screening, it has to be completed as preventive and billed as one by the doctors office. Unfortunately, I am unable to say which procedures would qualify, it would be based off of how the doctor bills the exam.
When did you have this screening completed? I would be happy to take a closer look for you!
This pre-op screening was done May 12. The attached Humana Smart Summary shows the exam, laboratory and EKG billings on pages 3-5. This was done to be sure no cardiovascular or other precluded surgery done May 26.
Thank you for your assistance.

I never got a reply to my last post, sending the Smart Summary.
I apologize for the delay. I appreciate you taking the time to provide us with that information!
I have double checked the claims from that service. Unfortunately, there was no preventive Cardiovascular Disease Screening completed during that visit. If they performed screenings for diagnostic purposes or other reasons, it would not be eligible.
It was not done for diagnostic purposes as I was not presenting with any cardiovascular complaints, which would be apparent if the report of the screening could be attached here for you to read. It was preoperative screening for right carpal tunnel release surgery ("R CTR"). EKG is a part of the routine screening for clearance prior to surgery. There was no cardiovascular complaint, and exam showed heart and lungs normal. Under "assessment and clearance for surgery" the doctor concluded "carpal tunnel syndrome--stable for surgery." Sure seems like a qualifying screening to me, per GO365's explanation: "Cardiovascular disease screenings look for issues that potentially lead to serious health issues down the road." The whole purpose was to assure the surgeon I don't have a cardiovascular condition representing a risk from being put under anesthesia and surgery. I'm submitting documentation to claim the reward as it's been more than 90 days since the surgery was done, 5/12/20. Thank you for your further consideration.
